Murray Mathews, a native of the East Texas area, was a successful businessman and entrepreneur in several fields of business for more than 25 years. His business ventures varied and include partnerships in Bronco Boring, LLC, a disaster and emergency service company that goes into communities after natural disasters to restore and clean up, M&H Farm and Leasing and M&W Farm and Leasing, which purchase and lease existing homes and land, R&M Farms & Leasing, LLC, which buys and sells timberland and also buys, sells and harvest’s timber. As part of his diversification, Murray was the sole owner of several businesses including CATCO and MURCO poultry farms, Mathews Real Estate, and Murco Farming and Leasing, LLC, a real estate development company.

His achievements over the years are numerous. In 1987, Murray built one of the largest poultry farms at that time in Shelby County and then doubled the capacity by purchasing yet another poultry operation. He was recognized by Pilgrim’s Pride as one of their top growers in 2003.

He served as the president of the Piney Woods Board of Realtors in 1997 and the president of the Center Rotary Club in 1987-1988. Murray was a distinguished pilot with multi-engine turbo prop rating, rotorcraft rating, and tail wheel rating. He was also a proud member of the Sons of the Republic, an organization especially for documented descendants of men or women who were registered as born and raised in the Republic of Texas.

Murray received his education in Land Surveying and Real Estate at Tyler Junior College in 1982, and a Bachelor Degree in Business Finance and a minor in surveying, Real Estate, Mathematics, and Engineering from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas graduating in 1987.

Murray was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Shelby County Cookers, and was involved in many charitable organizations.
