It’s that time of the year again! Deer season in East Texas is widely anticipated by most outdoorsmen & women – including our very own land professionals. If you’re planning to hunt on your land this year, it’s
important your land is properly prepared, to make this hunting season the best one yet!
We have four tips to keep in mind as you’re preparing your land.
Tip #1 – Make Sure Your Game Cams Are Working Properly
If you don’t already have cameras set up around your property, now is the time to do so! Make sure the batteries are fresh and the photos are properly syncing up with your computer! This will help you accurately scout for deer and give you an idea of where the deer activity on your property is
taking place.
Tip #2 – Check Your Stands
Now is the time to take a look at your deer stands and make any necessary maintenance updates. This could like trimming trees and clearing limbs for your hanging stands and checking for any damage on your other stands that stay up throughout the year.
Tip #3 – Bush Hog & Plant Food Plots
Last, but not definitely not least – you need to actually prep your land to make it optimal for you and your deer population. This looks like clearing trails to your hunting stands to make them easier and more comfortable to find. It’s also important to plant multiple food plots for your deer.
From the Mathews Realty team, we hope you have a great hunting season!
